Job Description
The Truck Driver (Non-CDL / General) transports goods, supplies, equipment, or merchandise using company vehicles that do not require a commercial driver’s license for the assigned vehicle and operation. The role supports local delivery schedules, store replenishment, business logistics, and other transportation activities by ensuring that products reach their destinations safely and on time.
Responsibilities include reviewing delivery instructions, checking vehicle condition before departure, securing loads, following assigned routes, and maintaining accurate delivery records. The driver may load and unload goods, verify quantities against shipping documents, collect delivery confirmations, and report shortages or damaged products. The position also requires compliance with traffic laws, company vehicle policies, safe lifting practices, and customer-site procedures.
Drivers are expected to maintain a professional appearance, communicate clearly with dispatchers and receiving personnel, and report accidents, delays, vehicle defects, or other issues promptly. Appropriate licensing depends on vehicle weight, classification, and applicable state or federal rules. A reliable driving history, punctuality, physical capability, and familiarity with local routes are useful qualifications.
